What Is Brow Lamination and Is It Right for You?

Updated: 5 hours ago

Do you have a 5 minute morning routine but want a 30 minute routine result?
That is really what brow lamination is for.
Brow lamination is a treatment that lifts and sets your natural brow hairs into a fuller, brushed-up shape, and the results last 4 to 6 weeks. Think of it like a perm for your brows, but without the tight curl. Groomed, defined and fuller, with no pencil or powder in the morning.
At Wax N' Blush in East Village, Long Beach, brow lamination is $120 and takes 45 minutes.
It is one of six brow services we do, and they are all here with prices.
How it works
You lie down, I put a gentle solution on your brows that softens the hair, then brush everything up into the shape we want and set it there. A second solution locks it in. That's the whole thing, and most people find it weirdly relaxing.
It takes about 45 minutes. How long it holds depends on your hair texture and how you treat them afterwards, but 4 to 6 weeks is normal.
Most people add a wax and a tint while they're here, so you walk out lifted, shaped and defined in one go. That's our Great Brows Bundle, $175 for 90 minutes, and it's all done in one appointment instead of three.
Brow lamination vs microblading
These two get mixed up constantly, and they are not the same thing, I promise.
Microblading is a tattoo. Pigment goes into your skin with a blade, it lasts one to three years, and if you change your mind about the shape, you live with it.
Lamination is temporary. Nothing goes in, nothing stays, and it fades out on its own in 4 to 6 weeks. It works with the brow hair you already have instead of drawing on hair you don't.
So if your brows are genuinely sparse and you want the look of hair where there isn't any, microblading does that and lamination doesn't. But if you've got hair that just grows sideways or lies flat (most of us), lamination is the low-commitment answer and it costs a fraction as much.
Who it works best for
Lamination is a good fit if your brows are unruly, grow in five directions at once, or feel flat no matter what you do with them. It also works if they're on the sparse side and you want more fullness without committing to microblading.
It's not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are on HRT, or if you have active eczema, dermatitis, or sunburn around the brow area.
If this is your first brow appointment with us
New brow clients start with the Eyebrow Makeover, not lamination. It's $65 and takes 45 minutes.
We map out where your brow should start, arch and end, then shape it with a gentle wax, tweeze and trim. You leave knowing what actually suits your face, and how to keep it that way between visits.
I ask every new brow client to do this first, and I know it's an extra step. But I can't shape something well until I understand it, and you can't maintain it if nobody's shown you how. Once we've done it once, lamination is yours any visit after that.
What to expect after
For the first 24 hours, keep them dry and skip eye makeup, steam, and touching them (I know). After that, a bit of clear brow gel in the morning is all they need.
Is it right for you?
I'd rather talk you out of it than have you book the wrong thing.
Yes, if your brow hair grows in different directions, lies flat, or won't hold a shape, and you'd like those few minutes at the mirror back every morning.
Probably not, if your brows already grow where you want them and you're happy with the shape. Lamination fixes direction and texture. If neither of those is your problem, a wax and tint will get you most of the way there for less.
Not right now, if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, on HRT, or dealing with eczema, dermatitis or sunburn around the brow area.
Still not sure? Every brow is different, and part of what we do is make sure you're booked for the right service before you come in. Book the Eyebrow Makeover and we'll work it out together.

Common questions
How much does brow lamination cost in Long Beach?
$120 at Wax N' Blush, for a 45 minute appointment. With a wax and tint included, the Great Brows Bundle is $175.
How long does brow lamination last?
4 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair texture and aftercare.
Does brow lamination damage your brows?
No. The solution softens and resets the hair rather than removing it, and it fades out naturally as your brows grow.
Is brow lamination the same as microblading?
No. Microblading is a tattoo that lasts one to three years. Lamination is temporary and fades in 4 to 6 weeks.
Can I get brow lamination on my first visit?
New brow clients book the Eyebrow Makeover first, at $65. Lamination is available on any visit after that.
Do you use cruelty-free products?
Yes. Every product in the boutique is cruelty-free and our wax is vegan.
Can I wear makeup after?
Not for the first 24 hours. After that, normally.
So that's the 5 minute morning routine with the 30 minute result. Six weeks of it, and about ten minutes handed back to you every day.
